Hiphop's Public Enemy
WOW..... I can't say enough about the things I have witnessed in the past couple days. First off I welcomed Lil Fats and Fillet to the NYC with some of the illest and talented emcees out of NYC and NJ. After hours in the smoked filled and bass thumping tracks from platinum producers I found myself in the midst of 5 different emcees from 5 completely different areas of the United States as they wrote to the track. Some of them started typing up a storm on their pda while others were in their head and then one on the good ole faithful notepad but the energy was insane. I just loved seeing them come together with one common goal and that was to light the mic up with their illest flows.
With Lil Fats in the midst of March Madness (31 Mixtapes in 31 Days) with the support of Datpiff.com and FoundationMag.com and only half way through it I saw the wheels turning. No one is running this mixtape game on a coast 2 coast level right now can you name one?? (thats what I thought)
Shot out to AMO (5MH CREW, Brooklyn) and Pretty Tony (Portland, Oregon)

Then 24 hours later... I was on my way to an open mic when DJ Kool Herc came and got me to hit up Flava Flav's Birthday at BB Kings for the Public Enemy Show. (I couldn't say no, right?) It was once again another moment in Hiphop History as some of the old heads came together to support Flav and P.E. and you couldn't get more gansta then Ice-T ! He came up to show his love and even did a song for the fans. Ice is looking really good for being an OG in this. As the night went on I sat there wishing I had a better camera but I made due. Chopping it up and networking as I handed out a few business cards and a couple C2C Mixtapes I had the pleasure to meet some new people and re-unite with others like Melle- Mel and Professor Griff.

Then Ms. Spin-Da-Rella ( lol ) walked in with her diva self looking like a $$million dollars$$. She was a doll and very humble as we spoke of some of what was going on in the industry right now. It's amazing how good most of this crowd was looking considering the hiphop road isn't always nice or easy... but Chuck D was looking like a 30 year old hitting the stage with a humble swag and pure expertise! I couldn't get the lil man full of energy still at 50 years old to sit still long enuff to take a decent picture but I tried... lol.

Shot out to Grandmaster Caz, Studdahman, Miss M, Beloved and of course KANGOL!!!! I had the best time and when I have days like giving up I look at those before me that created this kulture and tell myself " You HAVE to get up and keep it pushing!"
NOTHING BUT LOVE and MAD RESPECT,
MISSY B
