True Beauty..... ?

beauty- (noun) That qaulity or combination of qualities which delights the senses or mental faculties; esp. that combination of shape, colour, and proportion which is pleasing to the eye.

I was excited to see Tyra Banks and Ashton Kutcher come together on a project called True Beauty because finally it was a show keeping it real about the difference between inside and outside beauty. Since most shows especially reality shows like to focus on love, looks and or money it feeds our babies to think that is the ONLY important qualities to possess.

Now you all know I am been in this music industry for a LONG time and I have met a lot of people from the everyday behind the scenes persons that move this industry each day along with celebs, artists and even moguls. I have partied with them, worked for them, volunteered with them and even slept with a couple (2 or 3 not 7 or 8 but still not proud of it) and will never tell so don't even ask!!  BUT the point is that as the years go by and I grow as a woman I reflect on the people I meet and how they effect my life. From Eve being the most stank in person experience to the most down to earth realness of Devin the Dude what really makes a person stand out to me in this industry or any industry is how they treat people and or make you feel after they leave. I could really go into detail (my true friends know) but your time is limited and I want you to read the whole blog... lol!

Sometimes I can't stand working with artists/celebs because they can be sooooo flakey!!! But I was thinking about something Ashton said on the Tyra show. When asked by Tyra who or what were some of the worst or ugliest people he has met through his life? He responded that he would just try to find the best in each person and focus on that. After some self reflection it really challenged me to do the same and no matter how ugly someone is there is something beautiful in each person and or situation.  Makes me think of all the cliche's.....
"there is a silver lining in every cloud"
   "make lemonade out of lemons"
and the most famous hiphop one ....
"the rose that grew from concrete " from 2Pac that nails in the same thoughts surrounding Ashtons response. So as I deal and get really frustrated with these artists, especially the independents, it reminds me to show my true beauty and just be patient, keep it moving and stay focused on my goals. HENCE my new and improved '09 Grind!!!

Happy New Thoughts in 2009,
MISSY B
